Calendar: Discussed calendar in English and Spanish. Will added the number to the calendar and discussed the weather. Reviewed the days of the week and months of the year.

Songs:  Sang the morning gathering song, months of the year and days of the week.

Brainstorm/Fun Facts:  Reviewed what they learned about shirts.  They will be discussing pants today.  Discussed:  What do you like best about the pants you are wearing today?  Did you get to choose the pants you wore or did someone else?  Fun Facts:  Pants came about 1789.  After WWII, jeans evolved into rebel wear for teens and then for the hippies.  Denim is unique because it is woven with two yarn colors:  the indigo yarn and the “filler” yarn, which is undyed.  Jeans are called “waist overalls” or just “overalls”  until 1960 when Levi Strauss changed it to its popular name of “jeans”.

Social Skills:  Discussed:  What do you wear to bed?  How do pajama pants feel?

Speaking:  Discussed:  What do you think it would feel like to have ants in your pants?  Children show how they would act if ants were crawling on their legs.   They looked at the game board pieces.  They placed the cards face down in the draw pile.  One child draws a card; if he draws a 1 or 2 he moves that many spaces, but if he draws an ant he goes back to the nearest pair of pants.  We continued until all the ants make it to the house.

Emergent Reading:  What animals live near you or in your yard?  We brought a box out and the children had to guess what we found in the garden today.  We gave them clues to help them figure it out.  We taped the cat to the garden.  The children crawled around quickly like cats and meowed.

Global Citizenship:  Discussed:  What do you think you would serve at a tea party?  Did you know that people in England drink more tea than anyone else in the world?  We found England on the World Map.  Pretended to hold a teacup and take sips.  Asked:  “Have you ever tasted tea?  Have you ever had a tea party?  etc.”

Afternoon Centers:
Center 1: Pajama Pants Collage-  they will cut fabric pieces and glue them onto paper to make different pants.
