Calendar: Discussed calendar in English and Spanish.  Andrew put the number on the calendar, discussed the weather and found the day of the week in Spanish.  He reviewed all the Spanish and Sign Language words.

Brainstorm/Fun Facts: We reviewed what we learned about beans.  Today the children told me everything they know about Peas.  Peas grow in pods.  Fun Facts:  The United Kingdom is the largest producer of peas that are used for freezing, in Europe.  One serving of freshly frozen peas has more Vitamin C than two large apples.

Visual Art:  Discussed:  How do you think you make vegetable soup?  We reviewed how we made the soup yesterday.  We looked at the art project that they will be making in afternoon centers.

Social Skills:  Discussed:  What is your favorite gardening job?  We discussed all the jobs in a garden from planting and watering to weeding and harvesting.  We discussed our garden and how we would be planting it in a month or so.

Patterns:  Discussed:  What do you think is bigger than a pea? We looked at a pea pod pattern and looked at large pea circles and smaller pea circles.  Discussed how many large peas would fit in the pea pod pattern?  We then put the large peas on the pea pod and discussed who got the closest estimate.  We did this with the small pea circles, also.  I then used the pea pod pattern to measure things and see how many pea pods long they were.

Emergent Writing:  Discussed:  How can you draw four peas in a pod?  We found the page 16 in their My Little Journals.  We discussed how to draw four pea pods and then put four peas in each pod.  We counted them and got to 16.  We then discussed how to make the number 16.  Each child came up one at a time and practiced writing the number 16.

Tumble Bus Day:  See the form by the Sign-in book for the activities the kids did today on the bus.  No tumble bus next week due to Spring Break.

Afternoon Centers: Center 1: Outside play  Center 2: My Little Journal-  The children will practice writing the number 16.  They will then draw 4 pea pods.  They will use green paint and the tip of their fingers to make 4 peas in each pod.  Center 3:  Pea Soup Art-  The children will use pictures of vegetables, split peas and alphabet pasta to glue onto their large soup pot pattern.
