Calendar:  Discussed calendar in English and Spanish. Samuel put the number on the calendar and discussed the weather.  He found the day of the week and month of the year in Spanish.  He reviewed the colors “blue & purple”, shape “circle”, Spanish words  and Sign language words.  We sang our morning songs, counted from 1 to 20 in English and Spanish and reviewed our months of the year and days of the week.

Language and Literacy:  Discussed:  Who takes care of you?  When do you think is a good time to care?  We looked at the Bilingual Books and read the English and Spanish words.  The children will draw a happy, mad and sad face in the books in afternoon centers.  We also discussed the letter Kk and learned how to write it.  Each child practiced writing it on the wipe off board.

Mathematics and Reasoning:  Discussed:  How can you show a sad friend that you care?  We counted out 2 foam shapes.  I invited a child up to give them 2 hugs, two handshakes, two high fives, two kisses and two love pats.  Gretchen wanted me to give her 2 spankings and she laughed.  We then counted our body parts that we have 2 of.  We also counted to 2 in Spanish.  We looked at the counting card and number 2.  We counted the 2 circles and put 2 foam shape circles on those two circles.

Physical Development:  Discussed:  How do your parents care for you?  We discussed ways  that their parents love them and how they can love their friends.  We discussed how we could share love by sharing some strawberry jam.  I showed the children how to add sugar to a bag of strawberries.  They all took turns squishing the bag to make jam.  We had crackers with strawberry jam on them.  They loved this snack.

Social Emotional Development:   Discussed: Do babies need the same care as big kids?  Why or why not?  Does everyone need the same kind of help?

Show and Tell:  Each child brought in two items.  They came up one at a time and counted their two items.  Everyone did awesome with counting.  Please have your children bring multiple items in a bag labeled with their names so that we make sure to get them home.

Afternoon Centers:  Center 1: Outside Play Center 2: Bilingual Book-  The children will put the book in order and draw a happy, sad and mad face on the appropriate pages.  Center 3:  My Little Journals & I Can Write Project-  The children will practice writing their capital and lowercase K.  They will then make thumb prints using paint on a Large K on their journal page.  Center 4:  Team work garden-The children will dip their hand and foot in paint and make a print on a piece of paper.  They will turn it into a flower or animal of their choice.
