Calendar: Discussed calendar in English and Spanish. Abby told us the weather and put the number on the calendar.  She found the day of the week in Spanish.  She reviewed the shapes-circle, rectangle; colors-blue, purple, green; Spanish words-happy, hello, sad; and Sign language words-no, yes, play, apple.

Physical Development: Discussed: What do you know about tree trunks?  Which parts of the tree are above the trunk?  Below the trunk?  We looked at the rectangle shape and discussed how it could look like a tree trunk!  We went to the Little Journal page with the rectangle.  I showed the children how to trace the rectangle shape. We then added leaves and roots to the trunk.  They will do this in afternoon centers.

Language and Literacy: Discussed:  What could you find living in or around a tree?  We looked at the new Look and Find Poster and discussed all the things we could see.  I picked the child sitting the best to come up and pick a Look and Find Glass to do what it said to do. I had 4 Look and Find Glasses so 4 children got to come up one at a time and follow the directions.  Look and Find Glass 1:  Look and find an apple. Count the apples on the tree. Find something else that is the same color.  Look and Find Glass 2:  Look and find a fruit tree.  What is taller than this tree?  What is shorter than this tree?  Look and Find Glass 3:  Look and find a squirrel. Wiggle your tail like a squirrel.  What do you see next to the squirrel?  Look and Find Glass 4:  Look and find a bird.  What is the same color as the bird?  Pretend to fly like a bird.

Mathematics and Reasoning:  Discussed what you could use to measure a tree?  We looked at the number 3 and counted to 3 in English and Spanish.  I showed the children how to make a number three.

Show and Tell: The children brought 3 items.  Each child came up one at a time and counted their items.  We discussed if they needed more or less or if they had the correct amount.  We also counted their items in Spanish.

Tumble Bus Day:   See the form by the Sign in sheet to see what activities your child did on the bus.

Afternoon Centers: Center 1:  Waffle blocks and Bowling Ball with Pins  Center 2: My Little Journal-The children will go to the rectangle page and trace the foam shape rectangle or make a rectangle on their own.  They will then turn that rectangle into a tree by adding roots and leaves. The children will add the leaves by making a handprint out of paint.
