Calendar:  Discussed calendar in English and Spanish. Mallory put the number on the calendar and discussed the weather.  She found the day of the week in Spanish.  Mallory reviewed the colors, shapes and Sign Language words.

Brainstorm/Fun Facts:  We reviewed what we learned about Ribbons.  The children told me all that they know about horns.  Discussed: What parts of your body do you use to play a horn?  We looked at pictures of different horns.

Language and Literacy:  Discussed:  What does a horn look like?  Horns come in many shapes, sizes and colors.  There are yellow brass horns, big horns like a tuba and small trumpets.  We had 4 Look and Find glasses and the 4 best sitting children got to come up one at a time and follow the directions on the glass.  They used our new Theme poster for the month to find what they needed to.  Look and Find Glass 1:  Star–Look and find a star.  Can you count the stars on the poster?  Look around the classroom for a star shape.  Look and Find Glass 2:  Mouse– Look and find a mouse.  What other pictures on the poster begin with the /m/ sound?  Wiggle your nose like a mouse.  Look and Find Glass 3:  Drum–Look and find a drum.  Pretend to pound a drum seven times.  What could you use in your room to make a drum?  Look and Find Glass 4:  Horn– Look and find a horn.  What is the same color as the horn?  What else makes noise on the Poster?

Social Emotional:  Discussed:  What type of music do you love?  We looked at the Friendship Band and discussed how we could show love.  Discussed if it is a different love when you show love for a thing rather than a person?   I had each child tell me what they love and I wrote it on their Friendship band and put it around their wrists.

Mathematics and Reasoning:  Discussed:  How do horns work?  Explained that horns are wind instruments.  They need us to blow through them to make a sound.  We looked at the counting card with the number 7 on it.  We counted to number 7 in English and Spanish.  We made a horn out of paper and each child got to come up and practice blowing the horn seven times.

Language and Literacy:  Discussed:  What do we need to make a band?  Explained that a band is a group of musicians who play their instruments together.  We listed various types of instruments.  We looked at their “My Little Journals” and went to the 7 page.  We counted the horns on that page.  I showed the children how to draw horns.  They will draw 7 horns in afternoon centers.

Show and Tell: Each child brought in 7 items and they include a star object and a white object.  They came up one at a time to count the objects in their bags.  We discussed if they had more or less or the exact amount.  We then found all the white objects and all the stars in their 7 items.  The kids did great with this activity.

Tumble Bus Day:   Please see the form by the front door to see what activities they did today on the bus.

Afternoon Centers:  Center 1:  Outside play/ Legos  Center 2: My Little Journal-  the children went to the 7 page.  They each made 7 finger prints using a stamp pad.  They then turned those finger prints into a horn.
