Dec 14, 2012   //   by Miss Kim   //   Daily Lessons  //  No Comments

Calendar:  Discussed calendar in English and Spanish. Samuel was the calendar boy and put the number on the calendar.  He also discussed the weather and found the day of the week in Spanish.  Samuel reviewed all the shapes, colors and Sign Language words. Sang our Christmas songs.

Brainstorm/Fun Facts:  We reviewed what we learned about bells.  The children told me all that they know about Singing.  We discussed each child’s favorite song.  Fun Facts:  When you sing, you sing with your diaphragm and kind of your chest, not your throat.  Less than 2% of the population is tone deaf.  No two people in the world have the same singing voice.  Singing helps you with your breathing because it clears your lungs of stale air and takes in a fresh supply of oxygen for the body.

Physical Development:  Each child named an animal.  Discussed: How does that animal sound when it sings?

Social Studies: Discussed:  What sounds do you know about the weather? We looked at the World Map and discussed the different weather in different parts of the world.  We looked at North America where Canada is.  Explained that it snows a lot in Canada.  Would you want to sing outside in the snow?

Language and Literacy: Discussed:  What sound does M make? We sang a Mmmmm song!!  Then we sang, “We wish you a merry Monkey”.  We discussed words that begin with M.

Show and Tell:   The children all brought an item that begins with the letter M.  They came up one at a time and told us about their item and what letter it starts with.

Afternoon Centers:  Center 1: Practiced Christmas Songs/ Outside play
