Calendar:  Discussed the date in English and Spanish and wrote it in number form.  Dylan was not here yet this morning so we did calendar together.  We discussed the weather and found the day of the week in Spanish.  The children discussed the pattern and found the number for the calendar.  They reviewed their shapes, colors, Spanish and Sign Language words.

Fun Facts/Brainstorming:  Reviewed what they learned about desert tortoise.  Today the children told me what they know about burros (donkeys).  Fun facts:  Burros average between 42 and 48 inches in height and weigh about 500 pounds.  We used a measuring tape to see how tall that was.  Burros are well adapted to the desert; have tough hooves that can handle sand and rock, woolly hair to insulate from desert heat and cold.  Wild burros live in California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Arizona.

Social Studies:  Discussed:  What does a burro say?  “Heehaw!”  We looked at the Bilingual Book and the children had to predict what the story would be about.  The title is “Where is it?”  We read the book together in English and Spanish.

Mathematics and Reasoning:  Discussed:  What would you want a burro to carry for you?  We looked at the Counting Card. The children told me the number was 18.  We counted the squares on the card and discussed how to make the number 18.

Language and Literacy:  Discussed:  When do you like to run?  Do you run in the sun?  I had the children help me spell the word “run” on the wipe off board.  We discussed the word family “un”.  I then made new words by changing the first letter; fun, sun, bun, buns, pun.  The children read all the words as I changed the letters.

Creatvie Development:  Discussed:  What part of your body do you use to help you stay cool? We discussed how the burro flaps his ears.  The children will make ears for them to wear in afternoon centers.

Show and Tell:  Each child was to bring in 18 items.  They came up one at a time to count out their items.  We discussed if they had the correct amount or too many or too few.

Tumble Bus Day:  Please see the form by the front door to learn what activities they did today.

Afternoon Centers:  Center 1: Wooden Blocks Center 2: Bilingual Book- The children will put the book together and color it. They will then practice reading the book.  Center 3:  Burro Ears- The children will make ears and wear them around the room.
