Calendar:  Discussed the date in English and Spanish and wrote it in number form.  Keira put the number on the calendar, discussed the weather and found the day of the week in Spanish.  She reviewed our colors, shapes, Spanish and Sign language words.

Fun Facts/Brainstorming:  Reviewed what we learned about rattlesnakes.  Today the children told me everything they know about campfires. Fun facts: During hot, dry or windy weather, campfires are often disallowed.  Use small twigs, dry leaves or grass, dry needles, large pieces of wood to build a fire.

Social Studies:  Discussed:  What have you cooked over an open fire?  We looked at our I Can Cut projects that we did and discussed all the items.

Mathematics and Reasoning: Discussed:  If you were camping in the desert, what animal tracks might you see in the morning? We recalled the nocturnal animals that live in the desert.  Discussed which of those animals would be afraid of the campfire? We looked at the My Little Journals and discussed how to get the campers to the fire.

Social and Emotional Development:  Discussed:  How can you be safe around a campfire?

Language and Literacy:  Discussed:  What kinds of ways can you move carefully?  We looked at the Little Learning cards and thoroughly reviewed each one.  Cards:  Hh, Yy, Ii, Orange, Brown, 17, 18, square.  I then laid them face down in a circle to represent a campfire.  I had one child at a time come tip toe around the fire.  They would then chose one of the cards to step on.  They had to pick it up and tell me what it was.  If it was a letter they had to tell me the sound(s) and tell me words that began with that letter.  They would then find something in the room that started with that letter. If it was a shape or color they had to find the shape or color in the room and tell me the shape or color in English and Spanish.  If it was a number they had to jump that many times and tell me the number in English and Spanish. Each child got a turn to to this.

Afternoon Centers: Center 1: Outside play Center 2: My Little Journal- The children will use a pencil to follow the maze to get the cowboy and cowgirl to the campfire.
