Calendar:  Discussed the date in English and Spanish and wrote it in number form.  Mallory put the number on the calendar, discussed the weather and found the day of the week in Spanish.  She reviewed the colors, shapes, Spanish and Sign Language words.

Fun Facts/Brainstorming:  Reviewed what they learned about Laundry.  Today the children told us everything they know about dishes.

Mathematics and Reasoning:  Discussed:  How many plates are used at your family dinner?  We looked at their I Can Count Project.  The children used their pieces that they cut out to practice setting the table.  They set the table with 4 plates and 4 cups.  We did other math equations for the children to solve.

Creative Development: Discussed:  How is your favorite kitchen utensil used?  We looked at various utensils and discussed their usages.  We then used forks to paint with earlier this week in afternoon centers.

Science:  Discussed:  What tools do you need to wash dishes?   Each child came up one at a time to feel the item in the bag.  When each child had a turn to feel it, they guessed what they thought the item was.  It was a dishcloth.  We discussed what we used it for.

Language and Literacy:  Discussed:  How do you use specific dishes?  We looked at the Hands-on Letter  Uu.  We discussed how the shape reminds them of a cup.  We held the letter up for right side up.  We then said, “upside down” and held the letter U upside down.  The children did this with the letter to pretend the cup dumped out.

Afternoon Centers:  Center 1:Outside Play
