Calendar:  Discussed the date in English and Spanish and wrote it in number form.  Put the number on the calendar, discussed the weather and found the day of the week in Spanish.  We reviewed our Spanish words, Sign language words, colors and shapes.

Fun Facts/Brainstorming:  Reviewed what we learned about making friends.  Today the children told about what they would do with a friend at school?

Language and Literacy:  Discussed: How could you help a friend whose crayon broke?  We looked at the front cover of the Participation Story and read the title, “The Broken Yellow Crayon”.  The children predicted what they thought the story would be about. We then read the story together and followed the suggestions to have the children participate.  After we read, the children answered questions.

Creative Development: Discussed:  When have you shared a snack with a friend?  We discussed how to lace up the apples that they will be making in afternoon centers.

Mathematics and Reasoning:  Discussed:  How many boys are in this room? Girls?  We looked at the green wand and discussed the color.  When we shook it, the children wearing green would stand up and shake.  We had them sit back down.  We looked at the yellow color wand.  When we wiggled that color the children wearing yellow stood up and wiggled.  Discussed:  Does anyone have on both colors?  Does anyone have neither color on today?  Counted how many kids had Green and Yellow on and how many did not and discussed more and less.

Show and Tell:  The children all were to wear Green and Yellow.  We used this with our Math activity above.  We discussed all the questions above and they showed all their green and yellow things off to the class.

Science:  Discussed:  What do you talk about with your friends?  We added rice and metal objects into a bottle and secured  the lid on with glue.  The children took turns holding the bottle and moving it slow.  What is in it?  The children brainstormed ways to get the metal parts out of the rice without opening the bottle.  The children then took turns rubbing the magnetic wand along the bottle to see what happened.  They discussed what objects move with the wand and which stay in place?

Afternoon Centers:  Center 1:  Outside play Center 2: Lacing Apple- the children colored the apple pattern.  They then practiced lacing it using the yarn.  This is difficult for them to do.
